Consciousness Hacking and Biohacking are two distinct practices, despite sharing some similarities.
Biohacking focuses on using science, technology, and techniques to optimise the body's physical health, performance and potential. Techniques such as diet, exercise, supplementation, and biological hacks are commonly used to enhance physical performance and wellbeing.
Consciousness hacking, on the other hand, uses science, technology and techniques to optimise the our psychological health, sense of self and potential. Techniques such as meditation, biofeedback, brain stimulation and emotional healing are commonly used to promote emotional wellbeing, explore our true nature and reality.
Both approaches seek to improve wellbeing, peak performance and potential, but they differ in their focus and methodology, with biohacking centered on the physical body and consciousness hacking centered on the mind and consciousness.
We are seekers, using biohacking and consciousness hacking for self optimisation and discovery. A seeker is typically someone who actively seeks knowledge, wisdom, understanding, or truth in various aspects of life such as spirituality, personal growth, and self-discovery. They are often looking for answers to fundamental questions about the meaning of life, your purpose, and the nature of existence. You may have explored different philosophies, religions, practices, and beliefs to find what resonates with you and helps you achieve your goals. Growing up I had a good life, I wasn’t abused, we weren’t rich but we weren’t super poor either, we were comfortable, and yet I still felt an innate sense of suffering. I felt disconnected and alone on a planet that didn’t make sense. It wasn’t until later in life that I realized that I was a highly sensitive person and being sensitive meant that I felt emotions with intensity, and that intensity caused me to feel overwhelmed much of the time. The way I learned to cope with this was resisting feeling, pushing against it, but that forced me up into my head and then I would overthink. At times I found refuge by masking it with things like drugs and alcohol. Can you relate? Overwhelmed by emotions, consciously and unconsciously resisting feeling and trying to solve my problems with a busy mind. It felt like suffering. It was horrible. Unbearable.
Note: I've since worked with many people who have had traumatic life experiences and many that haven't. All of them carry emotional wounds. It's how we relate to the mind and our life experience that creates suffering.
I knew this wasn’t a life I could live and so I started to find a way out… I made it my #1 goal in life to heal my suffering. I had family commitments which meant I couldn’t retreat to an ashram, I had to figure it out here, in the modern world. Over the following 25 years, I read hundreds of books, attended courses, workshops, retreats, had private sessions and amongst all of it, one of the things that was consistently pointed to, was meditation.
Like most people I was bad at it at first, my mind was chaotic and sitting for 20 minutes was mentally and physically uncomfortable, but I persisted, I had to, my suffering was so intense. Before long meditation became a regular practice and over the next 25 years I learned a lot about meditation, the mind and why we suffer. In that I developed the ability (and have taught many others) to be outside of the conditioned mind and the suffering it causes. In doing so I reconnected to the aliveness that is all around us, that is in us and is us. I learned to tune into my intuition, my instincts, my purpose for being, I felt a greater sense of knowing, I downloaded insights, I felt a sense of wellbeing I’d never felt before, I felt whole, I connected to a sense of flow. I felt a connection to all things and to a growing sense of being part of God (The Universe, The Supreme Intelligence, Consciousness, whatever word works for you), I was God (we all are).
But it wasn’t stable. I was still being triggered and contracting from wholeness into the conditioned story of me.
I realised that I had many, many unresolved emotional wounds (we all do) and that the years of compartmentalizing emotion and pushing against it, meant that I was resisting feeling and in that I had cut myself off from the flow of energy. I was still unconsciously resisting all the undesirable emotions, to chase the good emotions - initially using drugs and alcohol, but now meditation and exercise became that refuge.
It wasn't until I learned what you will learn over these 5 days that everything changed and my feeling of connection stabilized.. I’ll share with you how to find and heal your unresolved emotional wounds and how to relate to your thoughts and emotions so that the wounding can stop.
In relating to your thoughts and emotions in this new way we learn to feel everything. It's in learning how to feel everything that you find the thing that we are all ultimately looking for…. To feel the aliveness, the fullness of being and to remember who you really are and why you’re here.
